Who is garbad

Garbad, on Jan 10 - , said: The specific problem is when a clown is on top and the clown's play is basically the only thing that matters and 14 people lose accordingly.

Ezz, on Jan 10 - , said: Luckily that's a very specific problem and only affects that one battle. Remember as i'm sure you do that the clown positioning will balance out given enough battles - and that your chance of having the clown is equal to anyone else's. To which, i guess there could be an addendum labelled Ezz's Guide to sucking at Internet Tanks.

Garbad, on Jan 10 - , said: Its not so much that there are clowns, its that the MM makes the top tank far too powerful often. In a lot of games you see 5 or less tanks that matter and 10 fodder. THAT is the problem, not the existence of bad players.

BobLoblaw Posted Jan 10 - Captain. Progression is the issue, or lack thereof. Garbad's advice is nothing but good, and be thankful he takes the time to put it in writing.

It's the people that suck non-stop, from tier to tier, never seeming to learn anything about maps, tanks, awareness, and mechanics etc. It's not about "haha your stats suck", and more about "what are you doing to improve". People saying "screw you elitist", when their stats are shit all the way up to tier Any argument you provide, means nothing if your stats are shit. Ezz, on Jan 10 - , said: while the MM can be 'unfair' to an individual by not giving sufficient influence, it is, for the most part, fair to each team.

Silty, on Jan 10 - , said: I should have watched the T29 replay earlier, it doesn't work in 7. Sometimes a side gets top-tier mediums with no top-tier heavy, and the enemy top-tier heavies for example, two KT's just roll unopposed to our base. Or is there a way to stop them? Garbad Posted Jan 11 - Major. Others might just dismiss is right away because "the guy has bad stats", but he might make a good point. You should not judge the argument solely based on the person who gives it.

Also, there are people who simply are below average. They seem to be "sucking non-stop", but maybe they don't care if they die in the first minute or if they win. They just have fun running around shooting at stuff. He might just be there and take a couple of hits, but that might be all that that's needed to win the match.

If that's the case, you should be there and capitalize on it. Zinegata Posted Jan 11 - Major. Zinegata, on Jan 11 - , said: It's also worth noting that it's actually pretty hard to climb out of the stat hole. Likewise in WOT, defensive Tds need to be close enough to fire the guns at the front lines yet also need to secure access to your cap or be able to RTB. This is an essential principle — think how easily 6 tanks can destroy 3, and think of how often you see matches where multiple tanks are completely out of the action for one reason or the other.

If all of those tank concentrated and were in the action, good things inevitably happen. When in doubt, concentrate your forces in an area, flank, and gang bang them to death. When under fire, your first instinct should usually be to back up and start angling your tank. It amazes me how often I get shots on a target before the pubbie realizes they are hit and starts to move. Simply tucking in under fire will save a lot of HP, which can then be spent in better ways.

No tank or group of tanks can withstand a crossfire for long. Two groups of tanks can peekaboom back and forth for several minutes with little effect, and when a tiny medium appears behind one group suddenly it becomes a rout. Thus, one of your key goals should be to create flanking opportunities whenever possible. As mentioned earlier, this often means waiting until the mid game and finding a hole to bang down.

On the other side, you also need to eliminate flanking risks. This is usually pretty easy to spot — if the other team has a medium or light who is constantly probing for a way through your lines, eliminate him. Use any tool at your disposal to win. This means spam gold right liberally, especially on some tanks.

It means brutalize the poor tier 6s in your Defender. It means bring a platoon and gang rape pubbies. Anything within the rules should be leveraged to smash your opponents. Turn off your stats trackers. Stop worrying about your color, your DPG, or your Wn8. Stats fetishism not only makes the game less fun but it also makes you play worse. WOT is a team game. Like other team games, people tend to glorify the scorers, the guys who put up big numbers.

The problem is this has led to having 15 people per team trying to take as many shots on goal as they can, regardless of their skillset, and regardless of defense. Meanwhile, the team that has better balance — some players focused on defense, some focused on assists, working on moving the ball for better shots — will always defeat them. But it does create an opportunity.

In the land of the stat whores, the glue player is king. Which of those would you rather be? Be the guy willing to lead a push, scout, make a flanking move, out-brawl the hostile heavies in the key area, and more. Your win rate will skyrocket. Tank Nut and Gamer Wannabe! When I started going into games assuming everyone on my team is braindead, I started having more fun, and suffering less instances of abandonment or frustration like getting pushed out of cover etc.

Another example from yesterday was a GWE cresting a ridge at close range, me being a one shot and him not. Instead as he was slightly to my right, I deliberately put a shot into his left track, causing him to swerve, throwing his gun off and completely preventing any chance of hitting me. Roll with the lemmingtrain — either in front of them to motivate them or behind them to use them as a shield.

Its a balanced tank in a field where everyone flocks to the next OP monster, its a second line support tank in a game where most people are either snipers or facebrawlers, and its not even a great earner. For those of us who enjoy this style of play, its all we could ask for. For everyone else, the T25 Pilot is slightly above average, but nothing to get excited about.

Hah, so much for being done with the game. Garbad knew what he was talking about certainly, his technical knowledge of how the game worked and how to exploit those mechanics was always good.

He voiced the flaws of arty as a game-play mechanic and offered fairly reasonable arguments to back it up - most of the current good players now probably agree with him on that front at least. However the fact that he was a bit of an egotist carrying around enough narcissism to fill a small oil tanker, combined with his tendency to revert to furious insulting sprees if anybody raised even the slightest objection to his views That kind of made him hard to like.

Yeah, I remember him being quite a d u ck. He also turned out to be a walking set of WoT-stereotypes, proving right every single prejudice people have against unicorns Jigabachi, on 18 April - PM, said:. Still I enjoyed his skill and aggressive playstyle After 9. Community Forum Software by IP.

Effective body shape and size to get off quality shots Good view range and a radioman for extra vision Average DPM, Alpha, Penetration, and Gold round Average Accuracy and Poor shell velocity — below par long range fire.

Glides very nicely on flat surfaces of all types Turning and Turret movement are merely average Acceleration is noticably sluggish uphill, which is right where a US medium wants it the most On flat ground, the Pilot runs very quickly — easily outrunning other US mediums like the KR or T95E2. T The T is about on par with the Pilot. Mutz The Mutz is a completely different role than the Pilot.

To use the correct British-English definition, he was a bit of a prat. He was a douchebag, but his challanges became legendary.

As people mentioned, his knowledge of the game was impressive. Also tagged with 9. Reply to quoted posts Clear. Sign In Username or email:. Remember me.
