Why does legolas have blue eyes

He first came to prominance at the council of Elrond, where he came as a messenger from his father to discuss the escape of Gollum. Legolas's eyes were an amber brown. Supposedly this was due to the fact that Orlando Bloom couldn't wear the blue contacts for very long without irritating his eyes. However I do own the main character and her story. Character Profile. According to Tolkien, Elves could even dream while moving about, "blending living night and deep dream.

The eye and hook tape is placed around mid-chest and extends down to the waist where the top jerkin ends, if you look closely at the picture above you will see the location of the hooks and eyes by the slight spaces where the jerkin joins in the front. Like any other elves he is immortal. But given that he's a Mirkwood elf, it's safe to assume they were probably green, blue or light brown. Therefore, they switched from Legolas's brown to Orlando's blue.

How Little You Know. I've noticed that before he became a part of the fellowship, and he didn't like the dwarfs, his eyes were ice blue with bird like pupils. Still have questions? Elves don't just spring out from trees or come solely from their fathers. Tauriel mourned her the death of her parents until she grew close with Legolas, son of Thranduil.

Legolas is a Sindarin elf, and although there are no specifics about the characteristics of his people, it's safe to assume that he was dark-haired and grey-eyed like most elves.

The Welsh Government is considering a 6pm curfew on all men following the murder of Sarah Everard. Does it fit to the storyline? Why are liberals the most vocal proponents of lockdown? I think it was just an error with post processing. Join Yahoo Answers and get points today.

When I noticed that with the eye color, A good book and the smell of it. His eyes in the hobbit movies were unbearable! The blue contacts he wore in LOTR were at least natural looking. It's hard for me to watch the hobbit without fixating on that. They eyeliner doesn't really help. If anything, it emphasizes it more. Legolas' eyes changed color over time! He was younger in the Hobbit!!! At least, I think he was. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the J.

His eyes were plain blue. Or purplish blue. Even more so with Treebeards eyes I had acctually looked forward to looking into his eyes, after Pippin's description of how they looked in the book.

Elda has made posts and is an Elf from Lothlorien and is not online. This is something that Tolkien gave all Elves, who have a peculiar connection with nature. It's one of the reasons why massive negative changes to nature and energy cause them to react so gravely.

He cannot give these skills to others who are not Elves, but he can guide people in the right direction. It's therefore believable that he taught Aragorn a number of things while spending time with him as a Ranger.

There's a scene in The Two Towers , for instance, that depicts Aragorn listening to a rock in order to detect how far away and how fast the Orcs are. This is something he probably learned from his Elf buddy. A memorable moment from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring , depicts Legolas walking on top of the snow while the rest of the Fellowship struggle through when crossing Caradhras. This is because Elves are incredibly light on their feet, allowing them to pass undetected in the silence, as well as shift their weight to their advantage.

The other thing that should be noted about this scene is the fact that Legolas is the only one not uncomfortable in the cold, even though he comes from a warmer climate. Before this, we only saw Legolas as a particularly skilled fighter who clearly had better agility and hand-eye coordination than anyone else in the Fellowship. This moment changed everything and inspired Peter Jackson to give him another major logic-defying "hero moment" in Return of the King , where he brought down a giant elephant on his own and then slid down its trunk.

Still, none of these scenes rank up to the action sequences he's given in The Hobbit , where gravity seems to be completely obsolete. It's kind of aggravating that he can jump around as if he were Spider-Man.

This is especially true of the scene where he runs up falling stones in The Battle of the Five Armies , which completely obliterates the laws of Physics. Orlando Bloom had a boatload of injuries before and after filming The Lord of the Rings.

This isn't completely strange as a lot of cast members were hurt during the highly physical three-movie shoot; Sean Astin stepped on glass in a lake, Andy Serkis strained his back, John Rhys-Davies broke it, and Viggo Mortensen received a black eye, a chipped tooth, and two broken toes.

Orlando had quite a famous accident on The Two Towers where he fell off his horse during an action scene and cracked several ribs. He claims that he's broken almost every major bone in his body in various incidents, including skiing, a motorcycle crash, and falling off a roof. Even movies as well made as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy make mistakes now and again. This may be surprising to some fans since Jackson paid such an amazing attention to detail, but Legolas' eyes actually change color numerous times throughout the three movies.

In some instances, you can see Orlando Bloom's naturally dark brown eyes in the shot, versus the baby blue eye-contacts he wore for other shots. The problem was that Orlando really didn't like wearing the blue contacts in the original trilogy. The contacts caused him pain and irritation, and would fall out or not look right on camera.

When Orlando reappeared in the final two Hobbit movies, he didn't have to wear any contacts. Instead, his eye-color was changed in post. However, this led to his eyes appearing unnaturally blue, distracting, and kind of creepy. Now that Legolas is basically a staple of pop culture, everyone and their dog thinks of him as a tall, slender, smoldering, blond man. But this may not have actually been the intention of Tolkien when he created the character.

Tolkien does describe the varying looks and hair colors of each Elven denomination quite well, but he never really talks about Legolas' look even though he spends some time with him. Peter Jackson and Tolkien experts usually depict Legolas as a blond due to the fact that his father, Thranduil, was described by Tolkien as possessing this hair color. But this isn't necessarily accurate by any means, since Legolas comes from two different types of Elves, each having either blond or brown hair. There are many different kinds of Elves.

In fact, they are essentially different races of Elves who each have their own dialect. No go away you evil critic's I always thought Viggo had really dark blue eyes 'cause in a lot of the publicity shots there's a shadow over his face so his eyes look darker, but in the movie when he's listening for the Uruks' footsteps they are really light blue. My spirit longs with thee to rest! Eagan By the big slippers of big slipperdom!

I noticed Legolas' eyes appeared darker in many scenes of FoTR as well. I think it had more to do with lighting. Have I not tasted it now many nights upon my tongue, foreboding that worse yet lay in the dregs.

Gawd, what an awful name for the poor blighters. Life draining from the eyes I slew him I will govern this fellowship now, or leave it. He kills to make room. I remember someone in another thread explaining how difficult it is to have blue contacts over dark brown eyes Bloom's normal eye colour. He or she explained how their peripheral vision is severly reduced. In scenes where Bloom is interacting with other actors, they tend to go with a contact that doesn't restrict his vision as much but comes out a less intense blue, but in close-ups they go back to the vision restricting bright blue contacts.

Hye speaking of eye colors changing, Arwen's do it to. She is wearing blue contact lenses. I can't see how P. Tommorow is a mystery. Today is a gift from God. Here is what I think since I have dark brown eyes like Orli. When a person with really dark eyes puts in lighter color contacts, in some light especially dim light their eyes will still look brown.

You most likely noticed that Orli's eyes were blue in the sun and kind of brown in the shade unless there was light effects like in the forest. I think it's affecting me. Figwit on his name: Are you suggesting that I have the wit of a fig? Find More Posts by Silmiel of Imladris. Even though his real eyecolor is brown, I like blue better. He looks awesome with blue eyes. Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye.

Find More Posts by Lindir. On the "lighting" side, I must add something I observed when watching the Extended Fellowship of the Ring many times, but have not seen fit to mention before now.

The scenes at Rivendell appear to have been shot with an amber filter. This has the effect of "browning" not only Orli's, but everyone's eyes. Elijah's eyes are a sort of clear light amber in these scenes, and I attribute it to the amber filter. Of course, it could be a digital coloring effect; I just like to call it a "filter," having used one in photography many times.

They leave a ring along the inner part of the iris near the pupil that is still the natural color, and you can see it close up.
