Arachnids and most insects respire through book lungs, which when coated with oil the fish oil part will suffocate rapidly. Kinda like putting some oil on a stagnant puddle to kill the mosquito wrigglers Now, since the ingredients are mostly food stuff to begin with although I do not actively pursue ingesting fish oil there is little chance of irreperable harm to humans They would finally fall to their death.
Too bad they don't give an audible scream You mean it's a perfume as well as a lubricant? It appears that males seem to think so. They are always reeking of the stuff. I wonder if brass will stay nice and shiny with a bit of WD sprayed on it after a polish? The smell of WD is really delicious too. Not as nice as gearbox oil though. Great speech. Am I the only one who read the thread title and thought it was about Western Digital 40 G hard drives?!
Time to switch the box off maybe? I don't think a thread about Western Digital 40 gig drives would be quite as interesting though. Thanks for the list of things WD40 can do Joe! Who would have thought? I've been using it for years but not for most of the things you listed. I often use it to loosen stuck nuts and bolts as well as for squeaks etc. If the ribbon on an impact printer is getting a bit faded, a single drop of WD40 or CRC through a hole in the side of the ribbon cartridge can work wonders.
More is not better. I much prefer Inox, doesn't dry out. I still prefer the perfume idea. Dogs and cats can pick this product up on their paws. They lick their paws. It is harmful or fatal if ingested!! It says this on the label! Extremely Flammable Aerosol. Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. WD is non-conductive at any voltage you will find in a normal electrical socket. WD will be reasonably good at cleaning.
That being said, the film it leaves behind will not be as good as a dedicated contact cleaner, so use a contact cleaner if you have.
Dangers for dogs and pets If your dog accidentally licked WD, it probably will be fine. There is no need to see a vet.
However, repeated exposure and licking or skin contact with the chemical may be toxic to dogs and other pets. WD is toxic! The effects on smaller animals like dogs would probably be worse. Prolonged exposure might actually kill your pet.
WD is an oil based liquid. If WD evaporated just like water does, it would be a very poor protector against rust forming. Soap and water will do it if you have access to the plastic parts. If you think it's on the carpet, some rubbing alcohol on a clean towel might help and will evaporate quickly without hurting the carpet.
One may also ask, can you drink wd40? Swallowing may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If swallowed, can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death. Inhalation : High concentrations may cause nasal and respiratory irritation and central nervous system effects such as headache, dizziness and nausea. Intentional abuse may be harmful or fatal. The manufacturer's website claims this ratio in the current formulation cannot accurately be described as Stoddard solvent, a similar mixture of hydrocarbons.
WD smells strangely kinda good… because it is scented with vanillin, the same aromachemical used in many perfumes. This is to mask the silicon oils, which by themselves, smell oily and garage-like. Can you clean oven with wd40? Simply spray WD all over the interior surface of the oven. After a few moments, use a damp sponge or a sturdy clean cloth to wipe the surface clean. Afterward, clean the surface gently with soap and water. Spraying WD on the interior of your oven door and oven walls will make it more resistant to buildup.
Why does wd40 smell so good? Can you spray wd40 on oven fan? If you use WD it will only last at most a week. The only reason to use it on a fan that makes sense is when they've gone all gummy and tight, and you can free them up with WD and then follow up with decent lubricating oil.
Will WD 40 wash out of clothes?
