How many packs for solange braids

Basically you are layering the hair to increase the length. Last edited: Jul 15, BraunSugar New Member. The braids are pretty but I could do nothing with that much hair. I would be slamming it in doors, rolling it up in windows, my son would be chewing on it It would be all bad for me.

Duff Well-Known Member. I think it's beautiful. I love the look, but I would be afraid that it would be too much tension on my edges. LaidBak New Member. Ogoma said:. Do they come this long?

Aicer Well-Known Member. I have hip length box braids in right now. I love them but man, they are heavy. It took 10 packs of hair. I pray they don't take out my edges when I take these out next week.

I did my own and it took 8 packs of hair. I ended up having to cut them. After the first two looooong days I finally got used to the weight but the sheer amount of hair was severely irritating the hell outta me. Expressions is super long and would give you what you are looking for.

Alas, it would be heavy too. Does anyone have pics of their braids? Thank you everyone. I would love to do this so I will need to find a braider I trust to help me out. Sidenote: if anyone knows a good hair braider anywhere between Vancouver BC and Seattle, WA, please give me their contact info. You can either use the entire length of the hair, instead of folding it in the middle, fold it at the end with one super long side and the other side about inches only. Hair and Humor on Instagram, explains some of the general distinctions between kanekalon and other types of synthetic hair: Kanekalon is a higher-quality synthetic fiber than other synthetic hair that is cheaper and more plastic-like to the touch.

It moves more like natural hair and appears less wiry. It is very important that the texture of the kanekalon fiber is closest to that of the natural hair, because of the look, movement, and most importantly, feel. Due to the repetitive motion of braiding, if the hair is too plasticky or "hard," the friction it creates will give fingers a burning sensation. One last thing to keep in mind: Some brands mix kanekalon with toyokalon, which is another synthetic fiber.

But the question remains — which brand of hair should you buy? We asked some hairstylists which ones they prefer, and for a few tips on how best to work with them, whether you're headed to the salon or you plan on braiding your hair yourself.

Los Angeles-based braider Asia Monae favors Rastafri hair for her braiding sessions. Rastafri hair also tends to be a softer texture, which is a boon on a braider's hands. Rastafri wins all three categories for me as they have beautiful texture, colors, and are affordable. This hair is great for jumbo braids, ponytail braids, box braids, and cornrow braid hairstyles.

Sturdivant-Drew also mentions that this hair is easy to detangle while you're braiding it. Anyone who has ever gotten braid extensions knows that the braiding hair can sometimes knot up as you're pulling out small bits of kaneklaon to weave into the braid. They can be styled in so many ways for every occasion; you can go from the gym, straight to work, then out to drinks, all while protecting your hair and looking superchic.

Another plus? Because they're larger in size, they usually take much quicker to install than traditional box braids or cornrows. Plan on anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on your braider and how intricate you want the pattern to be. Now that you've got the basics down, here's a look at some of our favorite variations on goddess braids. Get ready to screenshot. Want to really play up the goddess in goddess braids?

Go for an XXL-length with curly ends for an extremely regal vibe. Goddess braids are every bit fit for a formal event as they are for every day.

Actor Storm Reid's look here—with perfectly swooped edges and strands parted over her shoulders—is proof. How much do we love this look on Yara Shahidi? Let us count the ways: Those sculpted baby hairs! The cute low bun! The focus on those earrings! Yeah, everything about this is perfection. Soft, wispy edges paired with different-size goddess braids looks downright magical. Pull your strands back into a low, loose ponytail to make the style even sweeter.

The gold string and curled ends take this look to the next level. This chic look toes the line just between a Fulani braid and goddess braid. It's a good in-between size if you're looking to test the waters into cornrows or micro braids.

Solange is always raising the bar with her hairdos. These platinum blond goddess braids and shells will really turn heads. Marsai Martin shows how eclectic you can be with this style.
